February is Friendship Month!!! This February give a friendship gift worth remembering!!! For the price of a box of chocolates you can make a donation towards the building of a library for children in need on behalf of your sweetheart, a family member or a dear friend. It’s simple, quick and has immeasurable impact. It is truly a gift from the heart that won’t be forgotten!!! In doing so you are not only honoring a special person in your life ~ you are changing the lives of many.

The goal of “Friendship Month” is to use the passion and momentum of friends this Valentines to raise enough funds to build a library in India. 35% of the world’s illiterate population live in India. Most of those citizens are women who are the primary care givers. This propels the cycle of illiteracy, a huge problem. Be a part of the solution. Share the love. Encourage your friends to match your donation by sharing this event via facebook and other avenues. How does your gift work? When you donate include the email of the person whom you are donating in honor of. They will receive an email from Room to Read as acknowledgement of your gift. You can also include your email address and then forward or print the copy for them to include in a personal card. Tax rebate information is also included in the email.

Many thanks to Sandeep Sahiwal and his crew of bowlers for using one of their favorite pastimes (as well as their competitive spirits) to raise money for Road to 40: Room to Read. The events to date have been a fabulous success and we look forward to many more in the year ahead.

Many thanks to everyone who supported Road to 40 by coming down to the annual Winter Craft fair at the International School of Amsterdam. ISA’s own Sue Martin, an amazing jewelry maker, was able to raise funds towards a school in Laos with her beautiful craft.
